As we all know, the effect of the epoxy floor is seamless after completion. Therefore, when constructing epoxy floor, we need to deal with some expansion joints of concrete floor. No matter how good the material quality of the epoxy floor coating is, after one year, the epoxy floor coating will crack if the original concrete floor cracks. Therefore, when coating the floor coating, the floor construction unit should consult with the owner to deal with the concrete expansion joint properly, so as to achieve the expected and acceptable effect of both sides, so as to avoid engineering quality disputes.
Epoxy resin mortar filling
When epoxy floor paint is applied, expansion joints are filled with rigid materials of epoxy resin mortar (which should be solvent-free products), and then coated according to floor construction technology.
If the owner permits the existence of uniform and straight expansion joints on the ground, the expansion joints 2-5 mm wide can be cut by the cutter at the original expansion joints position after the painting of the ground, leaving expansion space for the concrete, which can avoid uneven cracks on the ground and reduce the phenomenon of crust formation along the cracks of the ground coating in the future. Usually only when the floor decoration requirements are not high, this way can be accepted by the owners.
Disadvantage: Because the rigid material like epoxy mortar is inelastic, it can not resist the shrinkage pressure of concrete due to thermal expansion and cold contraction reaction, which easily leads to cracking and shelling of the epoxy floor coating at or near the expansion joint.
Elastic glue filling
When epoxy floor paint is applied, elastic material is used to fill and flatten expansion joints, and then coatings and topcoats are applied.
The specific operation is as follows:
First, check the expansion joints.
1) For expansion joints with a width of more than 5 mm: clean up the debris in the joints, then fill them with elastic glue and scrape them flat.
2) For expansion joints with width less than 5 mm: because the seams are too thin to be filled, it is necessary to use a cutting machine to cut the ladder shape with a certain width and depth (the depth is better than 1 mm). It is necessary to ensure that the cutting is neat, and then the elastomer can be managed.
Elastic glue filling method: glass gun (glue gun) is used to fill the gap. After filling the gap, scrape and remove the excess glue with a spade. Elastic glue filling needs a certain depth. The dust and other debris in the filling front gap should be clear and clean. Otherwise, it is easy to appear the phenomenon that elastic glue and concrete are not firmly attached and separated. After the drying, the coating can be carried out.
Compared with the first method, because of the stress caused by the shrinkage of elastic glue dispersing concrete, the possibility of cracking of the coating on the expansion joint is greatly reduced, and the overall color of the ground is the same. However, because the coating on the elastic glue is still rigid, when the shrinkage of concrete is more severe, the epoxy floor layer on the elastic glue is ( The middle coat and top coat may still crack, but the cracks will not be large.
Polyurethane elastic glue filling
When coating epoxy floor coatings, first try to keep the expansion joints, even if covered, it should also record the location, and then after finishing the floor coating, cut the expansion joints neatly to ensure the width of more than 5 mm, preferably modified into a narrow ladder shape, and then clean up the dust and debris in the joints, two seams. Adhesive tape is put on the edge, and polyurethane elastic cross-filling is used to fill the gap straight and straight, and the tape is torn off in the semi-dry state of elastic adhesive.
This treatment method is often used in electronic factories, pharmaceutical factories and precision instrument factories with high requirements for cleanliness and aesthetics. It can basically avoid cracking of floor coating at expansion joints and is more beautiful. The disadvantage is that the color of polyurethane elastomer is relatively small (usually grass green and iron red), so it is not easy. At the same time, with the thermal expansion and cold shrinkage of concrete, polyurethane elastomer will also appear bulge and depression.
Paste fiberglass cloth
Local ground expansion joints are often covered with fiberglass cloth to enhance crack resistance. The construction method is: first fill the expansion joints with epoxy mortar, then coat with primer material, then paste 1-2 channels of fiberglass cloth with width of about 10 mm, and then roll coating with materials, topcoat and so on.
This method can not only ensure that the overall color of the ground is the same, but also resist the cracking caused by concrete shrinkage. But if the design thickness of the floor coating is too thin, it is not easy to operate, and it is easy to appear the phenomenon that the ground is higher than other places. So at least 2mm above the epoxy floor can be used in this program.
In short, in the epoxy floor coating, attention should be paid to the treatment of expansion joints. As for which treatment method should be adopted, it is necessary to consult with Party A and decide unanimously according to the specific conditions of the ground.
