Epoxy resin is the main component of epoxy floor paint, but the epoxy resin itself will not be cured, it has thermoplasticity, need to react with curing agent, cross-linked into a network of macromolecules, from its thermoplasticity to thermal curing, in the epoxy resin with a certain proportion of curing agent, after the construction of the ground, Curing reactions will take place, showing various excellent properties. There are many kinds of epoxy floor coatings, such as flat coating, self-leveling, anti-static, anti-corrosion, color sand mold, etc., mainly according to customer needs to design.
A customer's food factory wants to do floor, but do not know whether to choose epoxy floor or sealant floor, the customer asked me to these two kinds of floor their respective advantages and disadvantages listed for his reference, then, what are the characteristics of epoxy floor paint?
1. Excellent adhesion: Epoxy floor coating contains a lot of hydroxyl and ether bonds, so it can be well adsorbed on the vegetable floor. And the volume shrinkage of epoxy resin curing is low (only about 2%), so the epoxy floor has excellent adhesion to metal (steel, aluminum), ceramics, glass, concrete, wood and other polar substrates. 2．抗化学品性能优良：环氧树脂中仅有烃基及醚键，没有酯键，所以耐碱性尤其突出，一般的油性或醇酸防锈底漆。在腐蚀时阴极部位呈碱性，会被皂化破坏。环氧地坪涂料耐碱而且附着力好，故可大量用作防腐蚀底漆。又因环氧地坪涂料固化后呈三维网状结构，又能耐油类的浸渍，也可大量用于油槽，油轮，飞机的整体油箱内壁衬里等的防腐。
2. Excellent chemical resistance: epoxy resin only alkyl and ether bond, no ester bond, so alkali resistance is particularly prominent, the general oil or alkyd anti-rust primer. The cathode is alkaline when it is corroded, and it will be saponified and destroyed. The epoxy floor coating has good alkali resistance and good adhesion, so it can be used as anticorrosive primer in large quantities. Because the cured epoxy floor coating has a three-dimensional network structure, and can be resistant to oil impregnation, but also a large number of oil tanks, tankers, aircraft, the overall tank lining and other anti-corrosion.
3. Toughness: Compared with thermosetting phenolic resin coatings, epoxy floor coatings contain aromatic rings and are hard, have ether bonds to facilitate the rotation of molecular chains, and have a certain degree of toughness, unlike phenolic resin is very brittle (because of its shorter cross-linking spacing than epoxy resin). The crosslinking spacing of epoxy resin is long and easy to rotate inside. The larger the molecular weight of epoxy resin, the larger the crosslinking spacing.
4. Epoxy resin has a certain wetting force on the wet surface. Especially when polyamide resin is used as curing agent, it can be made into underwater coating, which can expel water from the surface of the object and be applied to the rush repair of underwater structures and the anticorrosion construction of underwater structures.
5. Epoxy resin itself is not high molecular weight, can be used with a variety of curing agents to produce solvent-free, high solid powder coatings and water-based coatings, in line with environmental requirements, and can obtain thick film coating.
6. Epoxy resin contains two active groups of epoxy group and hydroxyl group. It can be combined with polyamine, polyamide resin, phenolic resin, amino resin, polyisocyanate and so on to make a variety of coatings. It can be dried at room temperature and baked at high temperature to meet different construction requirements.
7. epoxy resin has excellent electrical insulation properties and can be used for pouring sealing and impregnating varnish. Epoxy resin has many advantages, but there are also shortcomings. Its photoaging property is poor. Epoxy resin contains aromatic ether bonds, the film after sunlight (ultraviolet) irradiation is easy to degrade broken chain, so the outdoor weather resistance is poor. Therefore, the usual bisphenol A epoxy resin is not resistant to outdoor sunlight, the film is easy to lose light and color, and then powder, not suitable for outdoor topcoat.
